Life is weird. What are we doing?
It seems like everyone is chasing love. Just listen to any music for a second. Like 95% of music (that has lyrics) is about love, including worship music. It’s what everyone sings about and what many people talk about (especially as teenagers)
People need socialization. Love is the bedrock of socialization. Love existing is the result of people being social. It’s the status of the relationship between you and someone else. It’s a measure of how close you are to them.
As far as basic human needs go, socialization is pretty close to the most important needs. Loneliness is something pretty much no one can endure. Everyone is obsessed with love, because they are obsessed with knowing other people. Socialization and love are basic human needs.
Our need to know others comes from God who created us that way. He didn’t just create us needing love, but he also provided it through his son.
Socialization is sacrifice; it’s an exchange. At the very minimum both people give up some time, but often they give up much more. Love is about sacrifice. You both give up part of your life for each other. Jesus showed the ultimate love by giving up his whole life. Socialization involves giving something up.
It’s really hard when you want to exchange with people; you want to give your time and parts of yourself to them to build a strong connection, which helps both of you, but they don’t have time to give up. They’re too “busy”. It’s hard to spend time with them (the easiest way to build friendship).
Even people who are busy can want to build friendship; they just don’t want to put in the effort… at the very minimum you need to be willing to sacrifice time. Some people are willing to sacrifice a little time, but I’m not one of those people. I want friends who I can do life with, not friends who I can talk to every once in a while. Everyone around here seems to prefer to be “busy” and use their spare time to form friendship…
Everyone wants love, but not everyone wants to give up their time. “I want love, but I’m also doing school, work, and sports because it’s so important to life.” NO IT’S NOT! Schoolwork and sports are all good things, but they are far from basic human needs. Almost no one sings about school or sports, that’s not what every human being can relate to and feel the need for…
This also happens with Jesus. He gives us His love; an opportunity for a relationship, but we don’t have time. We need to do our school, work, and sports… cause otherwise life isn’t gonna be good. Love isn’t more important?? Christ’s love isn’t more important?? It’s a basic human need and who is better equipped to provide it than our creator? No one! Yes you should prepare yourself for life, but neglecting a very basic need is a horrible plan for life.
We should not be “busy” all the time. Life is about more than busy. All 8 billion of us are on this planet trying to survive. First, we search for water food, and safety, then we search for others. For others that can help us through life. Being “busy” is horrible for this; it’s saying “no, I only want love, but I need good grades.” In reality, it’s the other way around: you need love, you want good grades.
By being “busy” we are missing out on so much. Life is about being together, working together, loving each other. Our creator created us to love and what do we do with our life? We decide to go get good grades, we decide to overwork ourself’s, and ignore the other people around us. We decide to hate each other, and fight about relatively unimportant things. What are we doing with our life??
Our life is so much more than those things. Don’t miss out on people, the wonderful creations of our incredible God, because there are things to do in this world that, in reality, only last at most 100 years, when we have eternity ahead of us.
Life is about a relationship, not things, not “busy”. It’s about a relationship with others and with our Creator. That’s how our Creator created it to be and that’s what’s reflected in society. Everyone knows in their hearts that this is true. Let’s stop being “busy” and go live life together!
