Train of Thought #14 - On Sin

Part of the “Train of Thought” series. See that link for more information
Do we forget that the enemy rejoices every time we sin? Do we forget that his main goal is to draw us to evil? Do we forget that our Savior had to die, bleeding on a cross, for our sin?
Since when do we take sin lightly? Since when was it not a big deal? Since when does sin not matter?
When did the enemy teach us to make light of evil? When did we learn to stop caring? When did we become so calloused?
The enemy, our enemy, wants to normalize sin. He wants to normalize evil. He wants us to believe that it’s ok. He even wants us to call it good. He spreads his word. His evil thoughts are whispered to believers and not believers. He might not be loud but he’s busy.
Keep quiet and you’ll have a good life. Don’t cause conflict. You’ll be the trouble maker. If you say that, they’ll hate you. He doesn’t stop lying. He wants to take your courage. He wants you to sit back and let the world, or even the church, ignore evil.
Call out evil, especially within the church. Sin is destructive and will destroy you. The only kind thing is to call people to the light. Calling evil good or ignoring it will only hurt others. We cannot lie to our friends, our family, or the world about sin.
This needs to be done in love and kindness. We do not hate God’s image bearers no matter how much sin has corrupted them. Our Creator deeply loves every one of His beautiful, precious image bearers. If we call out sin while full of hate, what good is it? Let’s treat others how God sees them. It breaks His heart and should break ours to see anyone destroyed and corrupted by sin.
Stand up, speak out. Call your friends to the light, call the church into the light, call the world into the light. We are to be the salt and light of the earth, to preserve what is good and reject what is evil. The world needs the Savior. The only one who can truly save us from the destruction of sin. Remember our Savior Jesus Christ and call everyone to follow Him with our who lives.
